GODOT WILD JAM 69 - VOID

Design

DEFCON JUNIOR was made and submitted as part of the 69th Godot Wild Jam. The theme for this jam was "Void." Inspired by this theme, the duo at Hangover Sunshine explored the concepts of oblivion and destruction. This led to the idea of having the player create a void, becoming a nuke that destroys all life until there is nothing left but a void.

Tools Used

  • Godot 4.2
  • Procreate
  • Photoshop (adjusting sprites)
  • FL Studio 21
  • Audacity

Running on Mac

To comply with the Godot Wild Jam specifications, we provide three builds: Windows, Mac, and Linux. Windows and Linux work out of the box with no issues, but for Mac users there is a slightly different process. When you run the game, you will be stopped by Gatekeeper. Once this happens, go to Settings > Search ("Gate Keeper") > Security > Allow DEFCON JUNIOR to Run. Once you click that, it will pop up with a similar warning and press "Open."

CONTENT WARNING

DEFCON JUNIOR may have themes and gameplay that may be triggering. Please review the content warnings below before continuing:

  2. Implied child death,

Masterfully made

I love the atmosphere of this game! SPOILERS BELOW!

The fact that it ended on Junior FNaF jumpscaring the audience by turning hyperrealistic felt cheap, though, and dampens the experience.

Yoyo!

Thank you so much for playing and super appreciative of the feedback. We plan on doing an update after the results come in for the 69th Godot Wildjam. Once our page unlocks, we'll def look into improving that end-game experience (and reflecting on what things we can change to make it more impactful).

Again and regardless, super appreciative for your time and feedback!
