Jam Post-Mortem and Version 1.2

Hey all, we hope you're doing well!

First, we would like to thank everyone who played and left feedback on the game. It means a lot to us as we want to make the best experiences we possibly can.

With that, we also began working, as S pointed out recently to some reviewers, on two updates. You'll notice firstly that we titled this update "1.2" and might be asking, what happened to version 1.1? 1.1 was supposed to be a small bug patch update addressing some of the major concerns regarding the game; primarily visual issues as the backend was properly being updated. With such positive reception and helpful feedback, we found ourselves really motivated over the weekend to bring more polish to the game. 1.2 has a host of quality of life, balances, improvements to readability, improved tutorial, and more! For more details, the logs of what changed from 1.0 to 1.2 are included below this blurb.

Thanks again for all the feedback! We have one more polish update (version 1.3) coming by the end of the week, life permitting, and a major story update planned for mid-September. Stay tuned for that, and our other projects' updates and announcements!

If you would like to see version 1.1 or version 1.0, or even earlier builds from within the jam, we have open sourced our codebase here!

=== VERSION 1.2 CHANGELOG ===

Society Stats

- Society stats now show all factions that are affected by the cards in play. If there are two cards, say Peasant and Noble, but one affects Clergy, the Clergy tab will also be shown in the table.

- Visual bug regarding going below 0 and above 10 (below 0 and above 100 for taxes) has been fixed! While the visuals showed this, the backend only saw between 0-10/0-100.

Reputation Stats

- Reputation was unaffected outside of Society Stats - cards now provide a +10, +5, or -5 reputation change. +10/-5 occur when the cards are different (e.g., Nobility versus Clergy) and the +5 change occurs when the cards are the same (e.g., Peasant versus Peasant).

- Reputation bars now show those changes, as well, when hovered over the game.

Balance Changes

- All the stats for Peasants were way too negative, and we have balanced these as: 4's across the board, with a random number between -2 to 2 to modify their starting value.

- All factions have been reduced to 50% approval at the start.

Cards

- There was a bug where one-faction cards were flipping after being selected, this should be fixed now!

Quality of Life Changes

- The total duration of all animations has been reduced by around 20 seconds. Several scenes move faster now to improve friction reported by reviewers during the GMTK jam.

- The pregame tutorial has been improved: factions have various "favored" issues they want to have a high score in. And no one wants high taxes.

- For now, the number of days has been reduced to 14 from 20. This may change with the story update!

- During gameplay, the background now changes to the faction that is closest to overthrowing Frank.
